Bik Lee splits her time as a Clinical Informatics Pharmacist and Staff Pharmacist at West Valley Medical Center. During preparation for a CPOE update, she used her strong clinical skills and advocated to make an important change for Mountain Division patients.
Bik caught an important error in the treatment for meningitis: she noticed that the recommended antibiotics for treatment would lead to patients being under-dosed and acted immediately. She used evidence-based insight to raise concerns and was successful getting the medication changed to safer doses.
Because of her commitment to patient safety, she not only ensured that West Valley patients would be receiving the best care but also ensured that all Mountain Division patients would be receiving the right medication for a potentially deadly illness.
