Fostering a patient experience isn’t one more thing to do, it’s simply emphasizing the WHY of WHAT we do.

See, our WHY is what motivates us. The WHAT we do is operations and HOW we do it crafts the experience for both patients and staff. When we look at our WHY, WHAT and HOW holistically, we can identify an inseparable connection between patient safety and patient experience.

It is our job remember WHY we do WHAT we do, and decide HOW we can do them in a way that our patients and families feel safe while in our care.

When we connect our WHY to different initiatives, we more consciously choose the best HOW in regards to implementation Here are a few examples of nursing initiatives, try to identify your WHY and the best HOW:

  • Throughput
  • Bar scanning
  • Sitters
  • Handoffs
  • Pain / Comfort Management
  • CHG bathing
  • Incremental overtime
  • Regulatory readiness
  • And so much more…
